@BG_Davies. Can I still post a story that I can share privately? We used to post Private Chapters but I don’t see that feature any longer. Looking to share a draft for feedback from a few select writers.
The way I’ve seen works shared is via google doc. The author pmed the people they wanted to look at the chapter the link.
No you can’t have private chapters anymore, just drafts.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if I PM a Wattpad user the link to a draft, can they read/comment on it or do only I see the draft?
If you ok them the WP link I don’t think they can see it. They’d have to be on your account. Sorry
OMG I need this so much! WP needs to come up with friend-locked posts like LJ!!
It was removed because mods couldn’t see the private chapters/stories and people were using it to post smut, porn, bully and call out other users to their followers, and other things that are completely against guidelines.
You can read this chapter for more information: https://support.wattpad.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001339606-Removal-of-Private-Stories-Feature
The reason why we can’t have nice things.
Please read the FAQ page. Ambassadors have admin rights, and when private was a thing, it didn’t include us in case there was a trolling problem, we could report to Wattpad. It falls under the whole “Ambassadors can’t be muted thing.” Unfortunately, I don’t know why the private option was taken away, but I know it definitely wasn’t because Ambassadors couldn’t see harassment.
Well, I was told that by a mod when the change happened so it’s what I believed.
Gotcha. Might’ve been before the FAQ page went up. Or they just didn’t know
I was happy when that feature disappeared. The whole follow, remove from library, add to library thing was treacherous. but I think when it disappeared, if authors didn’t make the private chapters not private, those chapters became drafts. Dunno
Agreed. As an ambassador, it didn’t affect me, but before I was one, it was such a chore. Like just make it public gosh.
And yes they go to drafts which sucks for the authors that haven’t logged in since 2012 that I binge their stories like once a year.
