I think the point is, it is clumsy technique. Not needed unless patching a story, and few get away with it. Prose is not poesy, where imagery and meter are everything. Simply, it most often pops the reader out of the narrative story, and shouldn’t be needed in the first place. So it is definitely not recommended. Especially for new writers, who do not need to practice using poor technique to begin with. Its not cunning, its a kludge. It’s not innovation, it’s damage control…
