Zoe, the Product Manager on the Content Discovery team here! I want to address your questions about the Browse changes. Along with the new Home feed experiment we also updated our Browse topics view. I realize this change wasn’t shared in advance, and want to apologize if this caused any confusion.
We refreshed our Browse topics for all users in English, not just those in the new Home Feed experiment (see this News & Updates chapter for more details https://w.tt/31Y5box) and we should have given our community more notice. We simplified the Browse screen, which used to present an overwhelming 30 tag pages, down to a simplified 20 tag pages and we added some beautiful illustrations to make these Browse areas come to life. This change to the Browse experience is live now on all platforms but the illustrations are only available to our those Wattpadders in the experiment
To be completely transparent, here is the list of Browse items that are all still available on Wattpad, however are not linked in the Browse navigation:
This was based on months of research that told us that Wattpadders were overwhelmed with the many options presented in Browse.
To reiterate: The pages we removed from Browse aren’t going away! These tag pages still exist and always will, as will all the stories you love in these genres!
Soon, we hope to release a personalized Browse area for each and every one of you at the top of the Browse experience. So if you’re obsessed with Anime and Vampire and visit those tag pages regularly, those would appear above the full list of Browse tags and categories and would make your own Browse experience more personal and easier to navigate.
We are listening to your feedback and will be keeping an eye on how this impacts Wattpadders’ ability to find the stories you love. We appreciate your patience as we try to find the right experience for our multifaceted community!
