LF: Dark Fiction of (almost) every variety

WantedBORED AUTHOR seeks entertainment in the form of novels that touch on darker topics. Show me your anti-heroes, your broken systems of morality, and stories where happily ever afters don’t exist. Romance is not preferred but if it is minimal or a sideplot, that is acceptable. English stories only. Pitches given a  will have at least their first chapters read.If interested, pitch your novel in a comment below. Best of luck to all.

Title: What the Morning Brings
Genre: YA Fantasy
Pitch: Ori is an average small-town boy. Or so he thought, until a strange circus appears in his backyard. He meets Blithe, a golden and guileful acrobat who immediately draws Ori in. Accepting her invitation to join the Cirque de Reverie, he is swept up in a whirlwind of wonder. Unbeknownst to him, the circus is not what it seems, and something dark lurks beneath its golden surface.

Two sisters, as opposite as light and dark but as close as the moon and the stars. When one runs away, leaving the younger sister heartbroken, she grapples with the grief and secrets her sister left behind. Something tugs on her heart, forcing her to follow in her sister’s steps, and it is up to her to find a way to save her before it’s too late. But in a circus that thrives on magic, mystery, and manipulation, that task might just be monumental.

Read Cruel Sacrifices

Title: Cruel Sacrifices

Genre: YA Thriller

Logline: Andrea Smith tries to evade and then later stop a serial killer that will stop at nothing until she and her friends are dead.

Summary: After committing a murder with her friends, Andrea’s only now regretting it. The others don’t feel guilty, and they all agree that the crime would never be solved, so they put it all behind them but not for long.

A stranger from cyberspace reaches out to Andrea, and her nightmare escalates. A shooting attempt on her life gives credence to the death threats.

After two of her accomplices turn up dead, she realizes that a killer is intent on picking them off one by one. Whoever it is that has their sights on them has to be close to her, because they know way too many personal aspects of her life. She has to make a choice: Kill or be killed, but first she has to identify her target.

A nobody and a wrongly accused fugitive, Valentina Linkin, jumps at the offer of a free trip to Dell Island, a small tropical paradise. Here, with no pressure to leave, Linkin hopes to start over from the mayhem she has caused with her unique intelligence. However, the longer she stays, the more strange things she notices: freak illnesses, terrible accidents, and the people who go into the hospital never come back.

It all started with a crumpled note telling her to look on the inside. What’s on the inside? Ira Konstantinov could tell her, but she can’t get above ground.

Lol ok so I’m going to pitch both of my new stories :joy:

Title: Daya: Eternal Pursuit
Summary: Daya’s family has been cursed for generations. She, like her mother before her, is pursued by an immortal being named Rooker who won’t stop until her entire family line is wiped out. To save herself, she travels across Maloria seeking allies and searching for ways to defeat him. It’s a story of endless pursuit and the will to survive, of gods and magic, and of self discovery, as Daya seeks to uncover her family’s connection to Rooker and her own strength in the face of immense power.

Title: Mabel and Sebastian
Summary: During the night, all of humanity’s sins are on full display. Sebastian Bowers believes that we are all either day people or night people: uncomfortably dull or deliciously layered. While predators lurk in the night, Mabel Goodman makes it her mission to find them and fix them.
This book is an intense psychological thriller and is recommended for mature adults only, as it deals with some heavy themes.
(sorry the cover for Mabel and Sebastian is so basic lol, I’m working on it)

Update: I haven’t had a chance to look at posts 3-5 yet but I will as soon as finals are over.

Title: Into the Underwood

Insisting that her family owes him a great debt, Sylvia is forced into servitude within the castle at the heart of the Underwood. There she must use her skills as a seamstress to navigate this strange world of spirits and, one day, earn back her freedom. But when she meets the King’s beautiful, red-haired gamekeeper, her needlework suddenly begins taking on a life of its own. If the King discovers these unusual “talents” of hers, will he ever want to let her go?

There are a precious few who remember the world as it once was, before the ice and shadow claimed it. They are the Razaghal, a group of humans and animals descended from the former god of the earth, some with peculiar abilities. They live in constant fear of their progenitor god and his darkened followers, who hunt them and kill them in the night out of desperation to free their god. The Iron God’s return could be the world’s salvation, but at what cost, no one truly knows.

Update: My finals ended yesterday, so I will have a chance to read more now.

However, any books pitched to me after this post will not be considered at all.

This thread’s getting a bit too long for my tastes and I don’t want to be overwhelmed.

I will catch up and like the pitches I like sometime tomorrow (probably in the morning if I can).

Just went through all the blurbs. Liked the ones that caught my attention enough to read the first part. Time to close down this thread. Thank you all for posting! Don’t feel bad if I didn’t like your post. I’m a picky reader with a very short attention span.
