The Trial is my current WIP.

The Keeper of Forbidden Records is put on trial for the capital offense crimes of refusal. The Keeper’s job is to keep the records, not read and certainly not release material that the state has made illegal. The state has ruled that all trials must be televised to show the people what happens to those that dare to violate the sanctity of the state and the gag must remain off to allow those on trial to admit their wrongs. The outcome has already been determined and the Keeper is going to be executed, but the show must go on and the gag removed.

The Keeper found out early in life that the state lies about everything, but hoped for one truth. The state promised darkness after death, but as the Keeper discovers after the execution, the state was very wrong.

The Trial

The ability to control everyone’s minds makes Dax easy prey for power-hungry villains. She knows it and therefore doesn’t let anyone get too close to her family. One night, her twins are strangely blasted by a lightning strike; Telio is revived, but needs a new heart. The army can supply this artificial implant but its leader wants to leverage it to get control of Dax’s powers.

Because of a set of dangerously quantum app failures, a pandemic of fatal neurodegenerative disease had killed almost the entire population. People are now forced to wear a quantum membrane placed directly on the brain to counter the degenerative disease; the topcortex. This membrane allows the government/army to exploit them and reduce them to nothing more than slaves.

Dax is in charge of the configuration of the topcortex. The army produces the implants which are its main source of income. Dax is very brave and selfless. She tries to reverse the ongoing procedure to free people from mindless slavery. If she succeeds, this can annihilate the army. Its leader, Colonel Monarc, wants to control Dax but if can’t control her he needs to neutralize her. To reach his objective, Monarc destroys experimental results, aspirates thoughts of the ruling class with his own topcortex, kills a famous astronaut and destroys the heart set to be given to Telio.

Monarc wants to impose pressure on Dax by threatening not to give her son the artificial heart he desperately needs. By controlling Telio’s cardiac implant, Monarc hopes to dominate Dax. Dax changes the rules of the game and will pay the ultimate price to save her son. She exchanges her own heart with her son. She’s even prepared to unveil a monumental secret that could revolutionize healthcare and demolish Monarc’s power.

EVEN DEATH DIES is a thriller that unfolds in Resurgence, a totalitarian and theocratic state that has replaced the United States of America.

Jane Alvarez-Flores is just trying to survive. And if that means carrying boxes around for 10 hours straight below the minimum wage, so be it. It doesn’t help that her grandfather’s health is taking a precarious turn for the worse. Or that if Jane doesn’t pay the rent in two days, the Government will kick her and her grandfather out of their house.

All appears lost until Jane receives a suspicious letter promising her a new life–for a price. She’s dragged into the world of NOVA, an organization hoping to escape the clutches of the Government.
Everything seems perfect–there’s money, protection, and all the information the Government had been withholding. There’s also Kelly, a girl who makes Jane’s heart do pirouettes in her chest.

But NOVA doesn’t turn out to be as perfect as Jane thought. Tensions start to run high, and soon no one knows who to trust. When it’s unclear who the real enemy is, Jane will have to choose between herself, her family and friends, or her planet.

ONGOING! Four chapters so far

“When confronted with the impossible and unbelievable, irrational are often the most viable options.” -Greta Thunberg, May 2027

Set in the very near future, “The End” follows the winding and overlapping paths of several unique characters, as they struggle to make impossible decisions, and for some, unthinkable autocracies, in the name of self preservation. Time stops abruptly and then slowly begins again as our heroes/heroines are jolted out of their mundane lives and sent reeling ahead, a result of a doomsday like event.

The book is unique in that although it is ‘technically’ a work of fiction, the author has actually been onsite and personally witnessed almost all of the events and narratives described in the book. Some of the planets worst natural and man-made catastrophic events… war, devastating earthquakes, governmental/economical collapse, pandemics, looting, killing, kidnapping, Dan Martin has been immersed in and seen first hand the chaos, destruction and collapse of cities and nations in person, and is able to convey those raw, often gritty, other worldly experiences in the novels lead characters.

As the reader follows the unfolding drama, the characters begin to take on real-life behaviors, actions and reactions, becoming relatable, identifiable. You may even find you share some of the same tragic experiences. An inconceivable perspective and awareness that can only be imprinted on an individual whose actually experienced and been on-site during and immediately after a horrific, life changing event. Something other post-apocalyptic authors are completely oblivious to and can only guess at.

You have two options. You die or you Qualify.

The year is 2047. An extinction-level asteroid is hurtling toward Earth, and the descendants of ancient Atlantis have returned from the stars in their silver ships to offer humanity help.

But there’s a catch.

They can only take a tiny percent of the Earth’s population back to the colony planet Atlantis. And in order to be chosen, you must be a teen, you must be bright, talented, and athletic, and you must Qualify .

Sixteen-year-old Gwenevere Lark is determined not only to Qualify but to rescue her entire family.

Because there’s a loophole.

If you are good enough to Qualify, you are eligible to compete in the brutal games of the Atlantis Grail , which grants all winners the laurels, high tech luxuries, and full privileges of Atlantis Citizenship. And if you are in the Top Ten , then all your wildest wishes are granted… Such as curing your mother’s cancer.

There is only one problem.

Gwen Lark is known as a klutz and a nerd. While she’s a hotshot in classics, history, science, and languages, the closest she’s come to sports is a backyard pool and a skateboard.

This time she is in over her head, and in for a fight of her life, against impossible odds and world-class competition—including Logan Sangre , the most amazing guy in her class, the one she’s been crushing on, and who doesn’t seem to know she exists.

Because every other teen on Earth has the same idea.

You Qualify or you die.

It’s 2075 and Earth is quickly disintegrating. There’s less than three years of inhabitable air left and officials are quickly unveiling their evacuation process called the “dyeing process”. Because the dyeing process can’t evacuate everyone, earning a dyeing spots becomes like winning a lottery.

Decades before, Earth’s neighboring planet, Sciusia was destroyed by citizens of a pirate planet. The Sciusian survivors relocated to Earth where they intermingled with humans. Though Sciusians and humans were allowed to have relationships, hybrid offspring were thought to be impossible…until now.

A handful of these hybrids are relocated to a Sciusian owned island. Where they are told they can earn a dyeing spot by performing, although it’s unclear what that really means.

Aya Thrasher is a seventeen-year-old from a broken home in a poverty ridden suburb of what used to be Boston. She’s creative, but is very self-conscious. After being relocated, she feels caught between two potential love interests, brave but slightly geeky, Brennan, and wealthy and gorgeous, Trevor. Aya must also comes to terms with her newly endowed gift - her dreams.

Rayne Marovic is close to turning eighteen and comes from a small town, which she absolutely loathes. After a botched robbery, she serves a stint in prison, until she also ends up relocating to the island. Rayne is a hot head who must learn to deal with her temper, especially when she starts to discover her telekinetic abilities.

Aya, Rayne, and the other hybrids must band together to defeat an insidious threat and learn the true meaning of the performance.

                         THE UNIT

The World is dying…
The planet is being consumed by the people it was made for.
When the resources finally run out, will Governments be able to maintain control?
When the population is fighting for survival, will the police hold authority?
When it’s every man for himself, will the law be upheld?
It wasn’t… by the year 2027 democracy was just a three-syllable word that held no more power than freedom. The World was run by those who were willing to get their hands dirty, the people who did everything and anything to survive.
The globe was shrouded in the shadow of man and all his greed, the greens and blues so prevalent tarnished by a host more interested in profit than protecting or prolonging the planet.
When desperation takes over, what will be left of our humanity?
The race would’ve extinguished itself, killed itself off for the last scraps of a world they stomped out.
A human-sized footprint, the only reminder of our toxic presence.
We would’ve been nothing more than a memory if not for the Unit. The Unit saved us. The Unit saved the World.
But, was that its true purpose?
And, is it really evil or simply a fail-safe to stop us from making the simplest human mistake…
Repeating them?

A cyberpunk adventure and commentary on the corruption of religion and existence of the soul with such a wacky-ass plot that I feel like I wrote the whole thing while I was sleep walking

After the government-planned assassination of a terrorist goes awry, the executioner finds himself in the middle of a covert war between a foreign rebellion and a religious cult. Aided by a mysterious cybernetic man who may or may not be mentally insane, they attempt to damage the religion’s reputation with a conspiracy that doesn’t make a lick of sense. Shit happens, stuff explodes, people die, two genetically constructed “demons” start hunting for the rebels, and right when everything seems to be falling into place, it all takes a bizarre turn. It’s not a bright future, but it’s apparently worth living for.

-The story is told in first person from multiple different character perspectives

-LGBTQ+ supportive story, although it gets pretty hecking dark at parts

-Imagine Altered Carbon, Blade Runner, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, and Akira in a smoothie with a touch of Star Wars as the cherry on top. That’s how I’d describe it

Holy hell, I’m tired. I have a weird craving for apple juice for some reason. Idk why.

Hello All!

If you are a fan of classic, fast-moving plot and character-driven sci-fi that’s not all about giant explosions and special effects you might want to check out my recently completed SEKTOR V Trilogy. I am a scientist with a background in physics and math so I am a stickler for getting the science physically plausible (with the obvious caveat that it still has to be entertaining fiction)!

I am serial releasing chapters every Friday.

Book 1 (The Ensemble) is now complete and I recently began releasing the early chapters of Book 2 (Enlightenment).

The Entire 3-Book Saga is written and edited so you know you will get content each and every week!

What’s the story about? Here is a short primer that doesn’t give too much away but hopefully piques your interest.

The Ensemble is the opening act of the SEKTOR V Science Fiction Trilogy. Here, you will read about the adventures of Stanley Dial, who unwittingly becomes the world’s best and most unlikely time traveler. Unfortunately for Stanley, his “hidden skill” quickly puts him in the crosshairs of two warring factions desperately looking to control Earth’s future.

Enlightenment , Book Two of the SEKTOR V Trilogy, expands into the Galactic unknown. In Enlightenment, Humanity’s myopic and solitary existence is suddenly thrust into the domain of strange beings who have been monitoring and manipulating the Terran System for millennia. With the fate of the world hanging in the balance, planetary powers look to align with benevolent extraterrestrials in order to battle dark alien forces looking to end Man’s reign as the dominant species on Earth.

Be sure to tune in every Friday to see how the SEKTOR V drama continues to unfold!
