Summary: Charlie Hill was a perfectly normal sixteen year old boy – if you consider being in the closet and dealing with crippling social anxiety ‘normal’ – until he managed to stop a bullet with his bare hands. Confused and afraid, Charlie struggles to gain control of his newfound abilities and, as a result, he is sent to Merlinian Preparatory School – the leading institution for the tuition of young sorcerers.

Now, instead of learning Math and English, Charlie has to learn to control his unruly magic, all the while dealing with students who think he doesn’t belong there and trying to hide his unwanted feelings for a particularly attractive fellow sorcerer that threaten to make him even more of an outcast than he already is.

Magic, it turns out, isn’t as much fun as it seems.

James walked passed her and into the kitchen. She followed. He turned to face her, leaned against the counter and said, “You hate surprises.”

“Yes… I… Wait, is this your freaky way of telling me you have a surprise?”

He cracked a smile and nodded. “We are not going to school today.”

“Wha…” Her shock forced out a laugh. “No. No, I’m going… What do you…”

“Take a breath,” he said. “Calm down. It’s the perfect day for it. You don’t have any tests or anything significant to turn in. Two of your classes will have substitutes. It’s nothing you’ll miss.”

“I don’t know…” Martha had never ditched school and had no plans to. She did her best to stay out of trouble and had, thus far, succeeded. “I don’t think we should-”

“It’s already happening, Martha.”

“What does that mean?”

“I’ve already called the office for you.”

“How? No. You… You can’t just do that without asking me!”

“I know, I know.” He approached her, lay his hands on her shoulders, and halved her anxiety. “But I already have asked you. And you say yes. But then you don’t get any sleep the night before. And…” He altered his cadence and inflection. " My impression of your father always creeps you out, Marty. "

She tore herself away. “Ohhhh my god! Don’t ever do that again.”

“I promise.”

“Like ever .” Martha shuddered. “So, like… we’re really not going to school?”'t-believe-in-love-songs

Beard: a person who carries out a transaction (dating, marrying, etc.) to conceal the other’s sexual identity.

Emerson “Emie” Badgley has always been a sweet girl. As a baby, she never cried excessively and always slept through the night. As a toddler, she ate her vegetables and was a well-behaved child who listened to her parents. In school, she never got into fights, was an excellent student with good grades and always completed her assignments. In short, Emie was the golden child of golden children.

In her teens, Emie was always home on time and was well behaved. She even has a boyfriend, but they had never ventured beyond a few chaste kisses and hand-holding. Their platonic relationship is modest and conservative in every sense of the word.

So why is Emie’s wish to take the relationship to the next level a problem all of a sudden?

A story in which Blair Summers a shy 14 year old girl, going on 15, is stalked by two boys at her school but is too oblivious to realise.

A boy whose name she has yet to find out keeps staring at her for some reason and a guy wearing a Helmet, that she nicknamed Biker Boy because he never seems to remove his helmet, mysteriously makes his way into the picture as well.

Who are they? Cause she’s seeing them a lot lately.

Or maybe she’s just paranoid?

Please be aware that this book contains humour and is a light hearted story… I really don’t feel this should be specified since I figured the reader would catch on but if you don’t you have been warned. This story is not intended to be cliché even though it might hold some aspects of the genre but this was based on real life so please don’t just assume the story by the title.
