So...nano's done, what next?

Right, it’s the day after nano and some may have completed it, some may not have. I barely finished with 50034, phew. Tell me, who finished nano? Who didn’t? Did nano get you a complete story or is it only halfway done?

Me, I completed it. My story is barely done, I reckon I still have a long way to go.

Yeah, I managed to complete it with 50027 words, and I completed my story! Although I may flesh it out and get it published for real, we’ll have to see lol. It was the first time I managed to finish though so I’m proud of myself! I hope you feel proud too!

Thank you, you too!! What was yours about? :^) Mine is a little bit of horror, the occult/supernatural, a little bit of scifi/ecofuturism and climate change and also some LGBTQ themes. I feel like it’s either very niche or has too many conflicting genres that make people scratch their heads lol.

I tried my hand at fantasy this time around. There are mates and all that good stuff. I also have LGBTQ themes…like heavy themes haha.

Ooo that sounds fun! Did you get a chance to do some world building? And I feel you on the heavy LGBTQ themes… I had to resist writing a gay sex scene right from the beginning because I was expecting that I would be like “well that’s it for me then” and abandon my project as I have in the past but still ended up putting one in there and continuing the story!! What was your plot like? And will you put it on wattpad?

XD World building, not so much. It’s all a little messy now so I’ll definitely have to edit big time for things to make more sense. It’s already on WP, I just let it be known that it’s a nano story and needs to be heavily edited.

What was my plot like? Hmm, what do you mean? Like did I plan it or just go with the flow?

Ahhh I see! I’ll have to check it out!

And I meant what is the main conflict of the story I guess. But knowing your method and if you’re a planner or a pantser is also a good question. I didn’t plan my story, it was very rough lol.

More of a pantser with very broad planning. The main conflict…there’s a lot haha. They’re like big subplots rather than minor ones. For one my MC has two mates so that’s a bit of a problem. Uh, one of her mates is a vampire, the other a lycan. In my story, lycans are extinct save for the one. Their bites are deadly for vampires so they got killed off.

Um, the MC was meant to be alpha but has no wolf. Now she’s finding out she’s not a wolf at all. Her vampire mate has a crazy sister who’s queen of their coven.

i didn’t start nano until the 10th, because i was editing a novel for some submissions the first week of nov. then i started writing and got 97k by yesterday, which blew my mind. i’m going to keep writing and have started posting the story as of today. i’m hoping to get a 3-book series and we’ll see how that goes.

i’m really happy for everyone else who has succeeded!!

I finished! It was an uphill battle but I did it. Congrats to everyone who finished and to those who ried  I admit I am a little lost today, between projects  What do you mean I have other hobbies I could return to today? Or that I need to go grocery shopping? lol

Not gonna lie that actually sounds interesting and like a different and more upgraded take on monsters/creatures. Do you find that writing big subplots is easier than having smaller ones?

And mine is basically about these twins who have dreams/visions of what turns out to be god, and because the government has been pushing people away from religion and encouraging them to be atheists, they try to get to the bottom of the situation but sort of in secret (because the government is trying to crack down on cults). It’s also set in a futuristic socialist society where global warming is slowly destroying the earth and drying everything up. There is a Lot to process lol

That’s really wild that you managed to get that much done in such a short time. What’s your secret???

honestly, i lost most of my distractions for a number of reasons and then just kinda decided not to find any new ones, though figuring out wattpad and getting sucked into twitter discourse no one asked for has been yanking on my brain parts.

other than that i’m a student on an off-semester so it’s all i do. i try to get around 5k a day, and hope for more if my attention span lets me.

wait … let me read this

Congrats on completing nano!

I completed, too, but draft is R O U G H, lol. But, I’ve already pin pointed all my plot holes and am hoping for some smooth edits soon :).

Congratz to everyone who completed NanoWriMo!

I’m so far behind, I’m doing NaDemBer!

Uh, I think it all just depends on the story. Since I don’t really plan, whatever comes to mind is what gets jotted down. This will be the first time I’m having such huge subplots.

I think your story sounds awesome. It’s a nice take on the whole religion debacle.
